Sport Premium

Sport is a big part of Wraxall's enrichment provision. We encourage our children to be active and make healthy choices.

As a school we offer daily sports clubs every lunchtime, led by our Sports provider Premier Sport. These include archery, hockey, dodgeball and athletics to name just a few! In addition to this we have two football clubs and a running club each week. There is no cost to families for any of these lunchtime clubes. There is a dance club which takes place every week and is run by beatsdance. Lessons come with a small weekly charge. After school we have daily sports clubs which focus on key sports each evening.

Our Year 5/6 children recently competed in a cross country run with other local schools. See the event report below, written by two of our pupils...

On 13.10.21 some pupils of Oak class participated and represented Wraxall CofE Primary School in Cross Country Running at Bristol Grammar School grounds. They did so well, every single one of them. Thanks to all the staff members who came to give the participants luck. Especially well done to Eloise who came second place in the girls race. The races were really tough! The children had to work extra hard. Some of us felt a bit sick or tired, but we kept going. The races were more hard than you would think and whatever place you came home with is just a place, be proud of yourself. Remember don’t give up and give it your all.

Our children run the 'Daily Mile' each morning which motivates them and energises them for the day ahead. Last year in Term 2 we were sponsored to run the distance from Wraxall to the North Pole. It took us a long time, but with the children and staff running together we managed to reach the North Pole just in time for Christmas!

Every year we hold an annual 'Health and Wellbeing Week'. This involves a wide range of sports activities, wellbeing activities, heathy eating learning opportunities, music, dance and mindfulness. In the past this has included yoga, wild PE, football, tag rugby, dance, archery and team building challenges to name just a few.

Please see the PE and Sports Premium review document below for information about how Wraxall school uses the PE and Sport Premium Funding.
